GIGLIO BLIND COMPANY
Blind Guide
Questions about different types of blinds and shades? Not sure what to do about that sliding door? Concerned with light control or insulation? Our blind guide is here to help. We'll cover some topics related to custom window treatments, combining over 30 years of firsthand knowledge and experience with some insights from our friends at HunterDouglas. If you have more specific questions, feel free to contact us for additional help.
Light Diffusion
We sell and install various products that diffuse light to different degrees, which can help you find the perfect mix of light and privacy control for any room. Light diffusing products include roller shades, Silhouette and Luminette shades, and to a lesser degree, light-filtering honeycomb shades.

From HunterDouglas - "Light diffusion refers to a fabric's ability to spread the light as it enters the room. Hunter Douglas offers innovative products and fabrics – like sheers and shadings – that are specifically designed to maximize light diffusion. A light-diffusing product creates a beautiful visual effect, converting direct or harsh light into a soft glow that fills the room. It can also reduce the need for artificial lighting, allowing you to reduce your electricity usage."
Variable Light Control
Blinds with slats or veins that tilt open offer the ability to let light through while keeping the window treatment down over the window. Products with variable light control include wood and faux wood blinds, shutters, vertical blinds, and Silhouette or Luminette shades.

From HunterDouglas - "With variable light control, you can modify the amount and quality of light entering a room, even when the window treatment is in its fully closed or down position.
Traditional shutters and blinds provide variable light control via their adjustable louvers or slats.
Hunter Douglas also offers innovative Sheers and Shadings that combine the variable light-control benefit of shutters and blinds together with the light diffusing benefits of sheers."
Energy Efficiency
Energy efficiency is a growing concern these days, and the right window treatments can make a huge difference in insulating your home and lowering your energy usage.
From HunterDouglas: "Energy efficiency refers to the way your window treatments regulate energy consumption in your home by controlling the heat and cold transferred through windows to help moderate temperature in your rooms.
Our most energy-efficient products feature a distinctive honeycomb construction. This innovative design traps air within the cellular pockets, keeping your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer."

Blackout Effect
Concerned with light coming into the room even with the blinds closed? Do you have an east-facing bedroom window, but you want to sleep past the crack of dawn? We sell many products, such as honeycomb shades, roller shades, roman shades, and woven wood shades, with excellent blackout capability that will let you control your sleep schedule or keep that afternoon glare off the TV.
Cordless Shades
Tired of strings getting twisted and tangled? Worried about kids or pets around shades with pull cords? Almost every type of window treatment we sell and install is available with a cordless option. Going cordless provides a cleaner look, enhanced durability, and a safer environment for minimal extra cost.
Island Climate
Installing custom window treatments on Long Beach Island presents a unique set of challenges because of the humid, salty air near the ocean and bay. Thankfully, we offer many products that are resistant to these factors, such as faux wood blinds and Palm Beach Shutters by HunterDouglas that are made from a vinyl composite material. There's no need for your island location to stop you from getting the window treatments you want.
Sliding Doors
Sliding doors present a different set of needs than a traditional window, and we sell several products that provide you with control over light and privacy without blocking access through the door. Vertical blinds are a traditional solution, while Vertiglide by HunterDouglas offers the soft, clean look of honeycomb shades on a sliding vertical track. For a more elegant look, Luminette shades by HunterDouglas offer the additional option of light diffusion along with privacy when tilted closed. We also sell shutters on a sliding track for a classic, refined style with variable light control.
